Response indicated that,
most AZA facilities absorbed cost of outreach whereas, private facilities
relied on presentation income to care for animal participants. Thus the
high prices. |

Most private facilities responded that they routinely traveled 90 miles
and occasionally traveled further than 120 miles for programs.

AZA facilities often have one or two fulltime paid staff conducting
outreach with a large number of volunteers, few had part-time staff.
Private facilities have one or two fulltime paid staff conducting
outreach, one or two part-time staff and typically no volunteers
conducting programs.
